IRS Provides Phone Number To Call Regarding Stimulus Checks
On May 18, 2020 the IRS announced that it would be adding telephone services to support answering questions regarding Economic Impact Payments (Stimulus Checks).
This is good news for many Americans. Many Americans have questions regarding their stimulus checks including how much they will receive, when they will receive, why the online Get My Payment tool isn’t working for them, or why they received an amount less than they expected.
The IRS stated that it will be “starting to add 3,500 telephone representatives to answer some of the most common questions about Economic Impact Payments. This means service will be limited.
Although the phone services will be available, the IRS still encourages Americans to take advantage of the IRS.gov website’s tools to answer their questions. The IRS has helpful tools to use before choosing to call the IRS phone number. Be sure to check the FAQ, Get My Payment, and Non-Filers tools before you resort to making a phone call.
You can reach the IRS Economic Impact Payment line at 1-800-919-9835. You will then be provided the option to speak with a representative.
