About Peter J. Nieves
Peter J. Nieves, has served as the owner of his own firm for the last two years serving in areas of Federal Taxation, Small Business start-ups, education, and Spanish editor. Prior to relocating to Florida he was Assistant Director of Financial Reporting & Accounting at The Hartford International, Inc., responsible for the management of the International segment's management reporting, planning and internal reporting functions. Mr. Nieves' duties in this capacity included the consolidation of monthly GAAP reporting, forecast reporting, quarterly and year-end SEC reporting. He also had responsibilities for the Financial Reporting Database as Administrator, which was the central domain of all International's financial data. Prior to this position Mr. Nieves was Senior Manager within The Hartford's Direct Billing area. Mr. Nieves has also served as adjunct instructor of accounting at the University of Hartford, Teikyo Post University, and is currently credentialed to teach at Valencia Community College and the University of Phoenix. Prior to The Hartford, Mr. Nieves was Controller of The Plaza Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Travelers Corporation. He was responsible for all financial and accounting matters of this unit's fourteen agency subsidiaries. Prior to The Travelers, Mr. Nieves held accounting positions with several small retail corporations. Mr. Nieves holds an MBA from the University of New Haven with a concentration in Accounting. He received his CPA certificate in 1989 and is a licensed CPA in Florida, Connecticut, and Maryland. Mr. Nieves resides in Apopka, Florida with his wife Rebecca.
