tax subsidies

we got insurance filing joint, my wife left for Mexico three weeks ago and is now refusing to file taxes unless i give her money. will i have to repay all the subsides by myself . what are my options

Quick Answer:

If you are unable to file a joint tax return, your filing status will likely be Married Filing Separately. Generally, individuals who are married but file separately are not eligible for the premium tax credit (PTC). This means you would likely be responsible for repaying the full amount of any advance premium tax credits (subsidies) received during the year. However, you may have an option to file as Head of Household if you meet specific criteria. To qualify, your spouse must not have lived in your home during the last six months of the tax year, you paid more than half the cost of keeping up your home, and you have a qualifying child or dependent who lived
