About John Harvey
I’m a CPA and the owner of Harvey & Thompson, PLLC, operating under the Michigan Tax CPA brand. I work with individuals, business owners, real estate investors, and growing companies throughout Michigan on tax planning and compliance, accounting and bookkeeping, financial reporting, and business advisory matters. My approach is practical and business-focused. I enjoy working through complicated tax and accounting issues, but I’m equally interested in helping clients improve the underlying financial systems that drive their businesses — from better bookkeeping and reporting to cash flow planning, operational decisions, acquisitions, and long-term tax strategy. I’ve also spent significant time developing technology and internal systems that make accounting practices more efficient. I’m particularly interested in the intersection of accounting, automation, data, and software, and in finding ways to use technology to improve both the client experience and the way professional firms operate. Through Michigan Tax CPA, our goal is to build a modern CPA firm that combines the accessibility and personal relationships of a local practice with the technical capabilities and resources of a much larger organization. Based in Manistee, Michigan, I work with clients locally and throughout the state and am always interested in connecting with business owners, attorneys, bankers, financial professionals, and other CPAs.
