I used Andy Vetter for my 2024 tax return after being referred by my previous CPA. During our communications, I asked for a copy of my filed return, and he responded by asking if I was “going somewhere else” and mentioning a prior arrangement with my previous CPA regarding client referrals. After I confirmed I was switching to another CPA, he sent the following message: “Klump Blandford and Huff gave me you and a number of other clients last year. They required me to pay them 33% of the fees charged to each client – so I had to give them $99 from your $300 fee. The deal was setup up for me to be able to keep these clients for at least 3 years. Could you send me the money that I lost out on last year due to only doing your return for one year….” This message felt highly unprofessional and unethical, as he was asking me to personally compensate him for a referral arrangement I had no knowledge of and had never agreed to. When I objected and requested my records, he told me to “calm down” and unnecessarily brought my father into the conversation in a way that implied I was making poor choices or being disloyal. This felt personal, inappropriate, and unrelated to the professional service I requested. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Andy Vetter as a CPA. Prospective clients should be aware and ensure full transparency regarding fees, referral arrangements, and professional conduct.
